Q: #Riftbound QOTD: My enemy has a 5 unit and a hidden card at Forbidding Waste. I play Shuriken Flip and target my EMPOWERED Akali Deadly Weapon, Forbidding Waste, and their 5
unit. Shuriken Flip then resolves. From Akali's move trigger, I target the 5
unit. In response to the move trigger, my enemy reveals a hidden 2
unit. Akali move trigger then resolves.
If I used Akali legend to move Akali back to base and use her move trigger to target the 2 unit, does that kill both units?
A: Sean got it as always!
Q: #Riftbound QOTD: I move my empowered Akali Deadly Weapon to a battlefield. With her move trigger, I target a 2 enemy unit at that battlefield. My enemy responds to the move trigger with Gust.
Does the enemy unit die?
A: Question fail on my end. I need to start doing quality checks on my questions.
Let's say this was an empowered Akali attacking an enemy 2 unit and enemy responds to move trigger with Star-Crossed targeting Akali and another friendly unit.
Enemy 2 unit will still live. When the item resolves, Akali is no longer on the board to check if she was empowered. As a result, the replacement effect event is not satisfied, and only 1 damage is dealt.
What happens when my opponent plays Hidden Blade targeting my Akali, Deadly Weapon in reaction to her move trigger? Will it still deal damage to the chosen unit?
It will.
Akali is another case where her ability refers to information implicit to its own trigger condition, similar to Iascylla. Akali’s “battlefield I moved to or from” doesn’t require her to be on the board in order for us to be able to identify it, nor does it reference information about her current state. Even if she leaves the board, that information was checked when her ability triggered, and it is still available to us on resolution.

What happens if my opponent plays Flash on their Akali, Silent that’s currently in combat after I play Star-Crossed targeting her?
Star-Crossed will resolve to no effect.
Akali, Silent is what the rules refer to as “untargetable” for enemy spells and abilities when she isn’t in combat; meaning she is not a legal target for them. Enemy spells and abilities being played when she’s untargetable since they can’t choose her. If she becomes untargetable after she’s already been chosen by an effect and retains it as that effect begins to resolve, it will “mistarget” her. She will be unaffected by any of the spell or ability’s instructions. If an instruction chooses only her, that instruction will be ignored.
