Equip — , Recycle 2 cards from your trash (Pay the cost: Attach this to a unit you control.)
Q: #Riftbound QOTD:
1) The enemy conquers Minefield with Kennen Storm of Shurikens and quickly proceeds to burn 2 cards. Then they try to use Kennen's conquer ability to give a spell in their Trash flow. Is this allowed? Why?
2) My unit with Last Rites attached conquers Minefield. I have 8 cards in my trash. Assuming Rhasa is in that trash (before Minefield resolves), what is the lowest amount of energy it would cost to revive Rhasa with Last Rites?
A:
They need to choose a spell in their trash to give flow in order to finalize Kennen's ability on the chain, which is before resolving the burn 2 from Minefield. Because they resolved Minefield's Conquer Trigger, they have missed their Kennen Storm of Shuriken trigger.
1 Energy. Because Minefield and Last Rite trigger as the same time, you choose the order in which they resolve. By choosing Rhasa (already in Trash before resolving Minefield), you can resolve Minefield first, making 10 cards in trash before you resolve Last Rites.
The order in which to play a card is to first remove it from its current zone and place it pending on the chain, then you pay costs and make legal choices. Because Rhasa is no longer in the Trash when it comes time to pay costs, he only sees 9 cards in trash - making him cost 1 energy and 1 purple power.
Note that when Last Rites triggers from Holding, the trigger is resolved before you channel your runes for the turn from the Channel Phase.
315 Start of Turn
Awaken Phase Beginning Phase - at the start of Beginning Phase game effects take place. Then, holding, the hold triggers. Channel phase - Channel 2 runes. Draw Phase - Draw a card.
Q. Can I equip Last Rites to a unit with Weaponmaster I just played if I don’t have at least 2 cards in my Trash?
No, Weaponmaster allows you to equip an equipment with a 1 Power reduction to its equip cost. You still must pay the cost of « Recyling two cards from your Trash ».
In contrary, Jax, Grandmaster at Arms allows you to attach an equipment, directly executing the Attach action and not going through the « equip » action to be payed.
