Erratas & Clarifications
Q: After I make my choice to discard a card through <<Insightful Investigator>>, does my opponent still reveal the new card that they drew?
Rules for Context - 424.3.
A: No.
The reveal game action applies a temporary modification to a set of specified cards. Revealing the hand reveals the cards in the hand, but the zone retains an information status of private. Any subsequent additions to that zone are private unless specified otherwise
Insightful Investigator reads “When you play me, choose an opponent. They reveal their hand. You may pay 2 XP to choose a card from their hand. If you do, they discard that card and draw 1.” Here we see the final example, where the ability contains a cost within instructions that does not fall where we would expect it to be for the sequence. This cost within instructions is paid on resolution and not as the base cost of the triggered ability. The ability can be split into “When you play me,” and “Choose an opponent. They reveal their hand. You may pay 2 XP to choose a card from their hand. If you do, they discard that card and draw 1.” The second part of the ability is all one chain item—it resolves it one go, and cannot be reacted to partway through resolution.
Q : Le texte de la compétence « [Investigateur méticuleux] » indique : « Vous pouvez choisir de payer 2 points d'expérience. » Cela signifie-t-il que je peux choisir de ne pas déclencher cette compétence du tout ?
You choose whether to pay 2 Experience after seeing the opponent's hand.
